Spirit-Empowered Prayer: Partnering with God in Advancing His Kingdom

If you are longing for a deeper and more meaningful prayer life, one that is far more empowered by communion with God and far less dependent upon rules of discipline to sustain your devotion, then this could be the book for you.

In Spirit-Empowered Prayer, Manny Carlos uses examples from the formative years of his spiritual life to make an inescapable point―regimens and resolutions to pray more faithfully, passionately, and effectively are alone insufficient to sustain spiritual disciplines. His initial efforts to follow various formulas of prayer echoed the apostle Paul's frustration in Romans 7―desiring to do one thing but lacking the power to accomplish it apart from the help of the Spirit.

He builds on this theme of spiritual empowerment with a description of Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection, whose rule of discipline was a retreat from the heavy burden of monastic rules to a full-time contemplation of the love of God and a radically simplified approach to spiritual disciplines.

Communion with God and the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit is the key―the only key―to genuine spiritual transformation. Spirit-Empowered Prayer serves as a practical guide to becoming a disciple fully engaged in Spirit-led prayer life.

Manny Carlos serves as a bishop and the Chairman of Victory, Dean of Spiritual Life for Every Nation Seminary, and has been a pastor for over thirty years. This book presents scores of examples from Every Nation missionaries to illustrate the essential principles of the organization’s distinct global mission.

A decade before Every Nation Churches & Ministries was established in 1994, the seeds of a global church-planting movement were growing among some of its founders. Other leaders who had embraced that same mission began joining together, dedicating their lives and ministries to making disciples among college students and in major cities—training them as leaders and sending them out to plant churches in every nation. As of 2019, Every Nation has churches and campus ministries in eighty of the 195 nations of the world.

This book presents scores of examples from Every Nation missionaries to illustrate the essential principles of the organization’s distinct global mission. It also has a discussion guide which can help pastors, missionaries, and church leaders apply these principles. Though it’s impossible in a couple of hundred pages to capture all the stories of our missionaries today, A Bible and A Passport shows how Every Nation as a movement is obeying God’s call to make disciples in every nation.

Pastor Jun has written a marvelous missions book! Here you will find the essential missiology of Every Nation as it has developed over the past twenty-five years. This book is a must-read for anyone interested in how missions movements begin, grow, and flourish!

Dr. Larry W. Caldwell
Academic Dean and Professor of Missions, Sioux Falls Seminary

This volume of Jun Escosar digs deeper into the mission, values, and characteristics of a young Christian movement. After reading through these pages, one finds that serving cross-culturally could be hazardous and yet fulfilling when the work is done in the wisdom, strength, and provision of the Holy Spirit. The leaders have concluded that the secret to their success is not the uniqueness of their strategy or methodology. Rather, the secret to their power is their compassion for the lost. Indeed, God can use any method out there, as long as love and commitment to the lost is modeled after Christ.

Dr. Miguel Alvarez
Professor of Theology and Mission, Asian Seminary of Christian Ministries

The nature and acts of God in Scripture can be summed up essentially in two ways: God is a missional and relational God. Dr. Jun Escosar captures these two facets of the Father’s heart, the missional mandate to make disciples, and a great compassion for the lost. The Lord’s desire is that none should perish but for everyone to come to a saving knowledge of the truth. Pastor Jun imparts both the missional passion to proclaim the gospel in every nation as well as the love of Christ that compels us to be ministers of reconciliation.

Bishop Manny Carlos
Chairman, Victory Philippines

Jun Escosar

Jun Escosar has ministered to leaders in over forty-five nations, and he currently serves as president for Every Nation Seminary. He holds a doctorate of missiology from the Asia Graduate School of Theology. Jun lives in Manila, Philippines, with his wife, Gigi. They have two children, Rachel and John Daniel.

The principles and stories in these pages will help you identify leaders, develop current leaders, and multiply future leaders!

“Where do I find more leaders?”

Every leader of a growing organization asks this question. And though we know we need more leaders, few of us know how to create a culture of leadership development. This book recounts how Steve Murrell and Every Nation rediscovered four leadership multipliers that solved the leadership shortage of a growing church and global mission organization.

The principles and stories in these pages will help you identify leaders, develop current leaders, and multiply future leaders!

Steve Murrell exudes and models leadership. I’ve learned much from him, and you will too!

Dr. Ed Stetzer
Billy Graham Distinguished Chair and Professor, Wheaton College

I like to read leadership books by people who are leading, and that is why I highly recommend The Multiplication Challenge by Steve Murrell. Steve redefines leadership and brings it back to a biblical foundation for how leaders should think, act, grow, and multiply. Writing from his experience of leading Victory, which has grown to more than 85,000 Christ-followers, gives this book enough credibility that every leader should buy a copy!

Dave Ferguson
Author, Finding Your Way Back to God

Here is a gem on Christian leadership essentials from a servant-leader practitioner I admire. Victory has often been asked why it has so many strong leaders. Here’s their big story with many little stories. I will keep coming back to this book as a resource for leadership training that’s biblically grounded, inspiring, and practical.

100 Years from Now explores the importance of understanding mission, values, and culture in order to grow and sustain a movement for generations.

Over the next century, the world will see changes we can’t even imagine. Advances in technology, shifts in demographics, and developments in global politics will all play a part in dramatically transforming our future.

But this book is not about predicting the future—it’s about understanding the principles that will shape it.

Scores of youth-oriented church-planting movements have come and gone quickly over the last century, many of them with the potential to literally change the world for Christ. Unfortunately, most didn’t survive because they were unable to maintain what made them so effective in their first twenty years. The same mission, values, and culture that inspire movements must also sustain them.

Simple to say. Not so easy to do.

100 Years from Now explores the importance of understanding mission, values, and culture in order to grow and sustain a movement for generations.

100 Years from Now invites a truly global conversation on what the Spirit is saying to the churches about God’s mission for every nation.

Dr. Timoteo Gener
President and Professor of Theology, Asian Theological Seminary

In the same manner in which scripture urges us to consider our lives in retrospect, as though from the edge of the grave, Steve Murrell calls us to consider our times and the current course of nations from the perspective of a hundred years ahead. He is a seasoned statesman who helps us understand the challenges and the stirring possibilities we face today in fulfilling the Great Commission. No follower of Jesus should be without this book.

Stephen Mansfield
Best-Selling Author and Speaker

Moses asked God long ago to “teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Steve Murrell has been living a life of numbered days since I first met him nineteen years ago. Even though our small congregation was just starting, Steve was already preparing the next generation of leaders to succeed him. In this book, Steve shares the secrets to process, culture, and relationship that enable the passing of the baton to the next generation. Read it, because Steve has lived a life of numbered days.

Imagine if every believer, not just leaders, was actively engaged in your ministry. That’s the Book of Acts. That’s a WikiChurch.

Engage,
Empower,
. . . and Go Viral!

Jesus told his followers that he would build his church, and then he told them to go and make disciples. It’s that simple. We make disciples, and he builds the church.

But today we often get this exactly backward. We work hard to build our churches with programs and promotions while continuing to neglect the essential practice of discipleship. And we wonder why we struggle. In WikiChurch, Steve Murrell shows you how anyone can make disciples through the simple process of . . .

·        Engaging culture and community
·        Establishing spiritual foundations
·        Equipping believers to minister
·        Empowering disciples to make disciples

Imagine if every believer, not just leaders, was actively engaged in your ministry. That’s the Book of Acts. That’s a WikiChurch.

Steve’s story is a remarkable one. He challenges me to take risks, to focus on discipleship, and to give God his due glory. I am glad to call him a friend.

Dr. Ed Stetzer
Billy Graham Distinguished Chair and Professor, Wheaton College

Reading Steve Murrell’s book on discipleship makes me wish I was young again and had been taught these principles and practices. May the Lord richly bless this book to challenge today’s church generation to rise and fulfill the Lord’s original call!

Kevin J. Conner
Author of The Foundation of Christian Doctrine

Steve Murrell is an inspiration. His message is clear. His faith is authentic, and his thinking, strategic. God is using him to inspire the church to embrace the adventure of making a difference—by making disciples. The principles he lives by are both uncomplicated and life giving—but the challenge he brings is one that can’t be ignored.

This book is designed to cultivate your skill, creativity, and engagement as a songwriter. If you have an interest in songwriting, we want to help you.

A workbook for Christian songwriters wanting to write songs with good theology, gospel mission, and global diversity.

“Movements aren’t sustained by preaching and writing alone, but by the music and art that communicate the vision of the movement.”
—Steve Murrell, President of Every Nation Churches & Ministries

“We should rise above our inferiority complex that pushes us to sing songs from a few artists. Even if our songs are terrible, we should still write them.”
—Malcom Duplessis, South African Church Planter and Song Publisher

This book is designed to cultivate your skill, creativity, and engagement as a songwriter. If you have an interest in songwriting, we want to help you.

Worship music is an integral part of how we engage God. So it’s important that our music not only be creatively inspiring but also anchored in scripture and biblical community.

Western worship music has contributed much to church culture around the world; however, statistics show that there is an overwhelming lack of multicultural representation in worship music globally. The world needs more songwriters who are ready and able to contribute a more well-rounded expression of worship.

Over the last several years, Every Nation Music has partnered with churches to host songwriting workshops with an emphasis on multicultural collaboration. We have worked to cultivate a global community of songwriters to serve the local church by writing songs that are technically sound and theologically accurate. This book is an extension of these workshops, packaged so that anyone anywhere can get the tools they need to write songs that honor God. We believe that you can make a significant musical contribution to how God is worshiped in the nations of the world.

The Worship Writers Workbook features:

  • practical breakdowns of the elements of a song with examples, insights, and inspiration from songwriters and musicians across history and across genres;
  • simplified exploration of multiple disciplines including Church history, biblical worship, songwriting technique, and artistic expression;
  • training materials that emphasize diversity, collaboration, and gospel mission;
  • songwriting exercises, assessments, reflection questions, and prompts;
  • and blank journal space for you to write up to 50 songs, with a “toolbox” to inspire and guide you.

The goal of God's Not Dead: Evidence for God in an Age of Uncertainty is straightforward: to help readers develop a faith that is real and credible and strong enough to help others find faith in God. To that end, Rice Broocks outlines a roadmap that guides seekers to acknowledge the most basic truths of Christianity: There is overwhelming and exciting evidence for God s existence The God who exists is indeed the God of the Bible God has revealed his nature through his Son, Jesus Christ As shown during the movie, this is the original book on which the main character bases much of his debate points with the atheistic professor. Persuasive arguments crafted with tools borrowed from logic, science, and philosophy, as well as scripture, solidify the faith of the Christian reader and provide starting points for discussions with skeptics. With clear, easy-to-follow explanations of key concepts and controversies, God s Not Dead is apologetics for the twenty-first century, presented in layman s terms. Readers will be empowered not only to talk about their own faith with confidence but to lead others to a relationship with Jesus.

Did Jesus Really Exist?

The search for the historical Jesus continues to be headline news. Any speculative theory seems to get instant attention as the debate rages about His real identity and the claims made in His name. Did Jesus really exist? Is there real historical evidence that demonstrates that He lived and actually said and did the things the Gospels record? Is there any validity to the speculative claims that the Jesus story was a myth, borrowed from a variety of pagan cultures of the ancient world?

In this follow-up to the book God’s Not Dead (that inspired the movie), Man, Myth, Messiah looks at the evidence for the historical Jesus and exposes the notions of skeptics that Jesus was a contrived figure of ancient mythology. It also looks at the reliability of the Gospel records as well as the evidence for the resurrection that validates His identity as the promised Messiah. Man, Myth, Messiah released on March 1st, concurrent to the God’s Not Dead movie sequel, which covers the same theme.

Plenty of parenting books focus on how to fix bad behavior. Not so many focus on how to cultivate a child's heart. Even fewer focus on how to deal with our own hearts as parents.

My First, Second & Third Attempts at Parenting is not a how-to book. It's a collection of stories and reflections designed to help you discover the elusive, yet most important, part of parenting: the heart. Chapter by chapter, story by story, we will examine God's heart toward children and our hearts as parents, as well as how we can prepare our children's hearts to know and love their heavenly Father.

“So be strong, act like a man!” – 1 Kings 2:2

Act like a man and join the revolution. It’s time we take back our manhood.

This country needs men who will stand for what is right. Men who will not bow down to what is easy and comfortable. This book is a great wake up call for men to take their place and know who they are in Christ. I highly recommend this book for boys who want to be men and for men who want to be men in their homes and offices!
- Marvin Germo, Mr. Stock Smarts

This book clearly redefines our paradigm of the ideal man. It spreads itself across all areas of our lives and is subtly rich in biblical references and life changing facts. It’s a no-nonsense, thought-provoking and eye-opening guide to manhood. It makes you look at your life from a different perspective and gives you a meaningful spiritual insight on how to act not just like a man, but like a real man of Christ.

Joe D Mango, DJ of the Radio Show Love Notes

From boyhood to manhood, this is what this book is all about. Becoming a real man is not automatic, but it must be deliberate and strategic. I thank God for godly men who mentored and trained me to become one. If you do not have someone to mentor you, allow Dennis Sy to help you and guide you the ABC's of manhood. From being a single to dating and courtship, to marriage and even raising your children. This book is full packed with godly principles and advice on how to become a real man.

Chinkee Tan, Mr. Chink Positive, best-selling author and speaker

Pastor Dennis understands that if a man seriously embraces God’s design for him, that man will be more secure and so will the women and children God brings to his life. In this book, he simply and clearly writes about God’s purpose for man from a biblical perspective. He writes about man as king, warrior, mentor, friend and more. Reading through this book made my heart hopeful that there will be more and more men who will rise up to live and fulfill what God has called them to be. Read this book and gift the men you know with a copy. They will thank you for it!

Coney Reyes , Award Winning Actress

Thank you, pastor Dennis for writing this book. It is a message that generations of boys need to hear. It removes excuses and challenges boys to become Men. Boys like an adventure, what better adventure can a boy embark upon that finding their manhood. It's time to man up!

Lee Concepcion, Two-time Swimming Olympian

If you're a man and think that you don't need to read this book, then think again. Because "pride comes before the fall,” every man needs to read Act Like a Man with humility and learn and re-learn what we need to know and do to "man up"! Because every Proverbs 31 wife needs a Proverbs 31 man, every husband needs to read Act Like a Man. Because our sons and daughters desperately need fathers who are man enough to hug their children, Dads need to read Act Like a Man.
All POGI men need to read this book to keep on being POGI! Read this and reap!"

Ardy Roberto, Best-selling author of Real Men are POGI

"One of the reasons why I am such a big fan of Dennis Sy is because of his no-nonsense, direct-to-the-point, honest and timely approach to successful living. Act Like a Man is a book which is so timely as many men have lost grasp of what true manhood is about amidst the hysteria of commercialism, pluralism, relativism and the many 'isms' of the 21st century. This is a highly recommendable book to all the men (and women) who needs an awakening on their true purpose in life."

Randell Tiongson, Philippine Daily Inquirer Columnist and Best Selling Author

“Act Like A Man” scratches where all men itch! I read through this book in a few hours (I could not put it down)- and found myself reflecting, praying and making decisions for my life-change. This is a must-read for every man (and every woman who has a man in her life) who wants to live in the full life that God planned for him. Thank Thank you for writing this book, Pastor Dennis!
