The picture of Steve Murrell winning this race is a classic shot. Thanks to his father (I think) and a good camera. For many years I have grown up spiritually under Steve’s teaching gift. Steve has always had a way of unpacking God’s word in a way that I could relate to and understand. More importantly be able to apply it to my life. Now that he spends most of his time traveling for the Every Nation world I don’t get to listen to Steve as often. Thankfully last Wednesday Steve spoke at our monthly ….

Thus the need for professional confidentiality. I recently had to correct a colleague who inadvertently leaked some confidential info during a meeting. He responded to my correction by saying, “You’re right, I should not have said that. I don’t get corrected very often, but I need it. Thanks.” He not only admitted his mistake, he embraced correction and he thanked me for it. I am thankful I get to work with such humble and wise people all over the ….

She held court under the Palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites came to her to have their disputes decided. She sent for Barak, son of Abinoam, from Kedesh in Naphtali and said to him, “The Lord, the God of Israel, commands you: ‘Go, take with you ten thousand men of Naphtali and Zebulun and lead the way to Mount Tabor. I will lure Sisera, the commander of Jabin’s army, ….

As I walked to my departing gate, I noticed that people I passed were staring at me and whispering to one another. It made me self-conscious. I did a quick scan of my clothes to make sure everything was in order. I could not see anything out of the ordinary. But people kept staring. Finally, one guy said, “Hey man, you’ve got something on your face.” I expressed my appreciation ….

Enjoy reading.)I’m back in Nashville after a two week trip that included ministering to leaders at Every Nation Church in London, visiting my son in Oxford and training church planters in South Africa. It also included the usual flight delays and monstrous airport security lines. One of my airplane books for this trip was Tim Keller’s King’s Cross, a study of the life of Jesus in the Gospel of Mark. According to Keller, when Mark says Jesus spoke “with authority” it is like saying Jesus is speaking as the author. The New ….

It also explained what is wrong with many church people today.2 Neither he (King Zedekiah) nor his attendants nor the people of the land paid any attention to the words the LORD had spoken through Jeremiah the prophet.None of these guys paid any attention to what the prophet preached. Not the king. Not his attendants. Not the average people. No one. They all ignored God’s word. But… 3 King Zedekiah, however, sent Jehukal son of Shelemiah with the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah to Jeremiah the prophet with ….
by Steve Murrell | Posted onWednesday, May 18th, 2011| Tags: humility, leadership |no responses By Steve Murrell I recently realized that at some point in my life – and I’m not exactly sure when – but a major shift happened in the way I approach ministry, leadership and maybe life in general. I used to be obsessed with trying to learn to be a good leader. Since I am not a “natural” leader, I knew I had to somehow obtain those elusive leadership skills. So, I read leadership books. I took seminary classes. I studies church, political and business leaders. I sought mentors. All of this helped, I think. ….
By Paul Barker (Note: We are featuring a four-part series on the subject of Humility from Paul Barker’s blog in 2009. We hope you will find this meaningful and encouraging as you live to please and honor God.) What is pride? Many profound thinkers in the history of the Church have attempted to define pride. “Pride is the commencement of all sin because it was this which overthrew the devil, from whom arose the origin of sin; and afterwards, when his malice and envy pursued man, who was yet standing in his uprightness; it subverted ….
by Lynette Lewis Patience. . .so many things in life require it, but at times it feels like it’s running out, not a drop left and still no breakthrough. What’s a person to do when, like that last little bit of toothpaste, you’ve pushed, squeezed, twisted, and forced every last ounce of patience, yet still need more? Patience is a virtue, but unlike the latest gadget I find on the internet, patience is much more elusive and often hard to come by. One simple strategy does seem to help however. . .having a clear, definitive ….
