Pray for Somalia

Somalia

Somalia refugees

Somalia, a country in the Horn of Africa, is one of the poorest and most war-torn nations in the world. Somalia suffers from the effects of a civil war which started in 1991 and which has caused instability and destruction throughout the country and in the lives of its people.

Somalia has close to 10 million people and the majority lives in the capital city, Mogadishu.  Islam is the official religion in Somalia.

Operation World reports:

Although the majority of the population is Muslim, the greed and fighting between Islamic groups has contributed to the civil war. Some people are turning to more radical Islamic groups but many are totally disillusioned with Islam. Pray that they would find Jesus and find a real, dynamic and consistent faith.

The Somali church has been driven totally underground; some leaders have been named on a hit list for execution. Pray that God would protect them and that they would remain strong in their faith.

Please pray for workers and open doors for ministry in Somalia.

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to touch the lives and the hearts of the people in Somalia.
  • Pray for workers to reach out to the people in Somalia.
  • Pray for peace, unity and prosperity for the nation of Somalia.
  • Pray against the spirit of divisiveness and violence and against the major principalities that continue to ruin the nation.
  • Pray that the strong prejudices against Christianity be broken down and for the gospel to be received by the people with an open heart.
