ENCM Testimonies

Julius Rola of the University of Sto Tomas, Manila, Philippines
Julius Rola, University of Sto Tomas

Julius Rola is currently enrolled at the oldest existing university in Asia, the University of Sto Tomas (UST) in Manila, Philippines.  In terms of student population, it’s the largest Catholic university in the world with the Christians being a restricted minority.  Julius was introduced to church in October 2003 through a childhood friend who invited him.  After months of attending, by July 2004 Julius felt called to attend the U-Belt church in the heart of the university district of Manila.

He has a growing passion to reach the students and young people in the area.  “ENCM (Every Nation Campus Ministries) has trained and mentored me to become an efficient and effective leader.  My life has been changed.  Because of this spiritual family, my heart for the lost has been increased and I now have more passion to reach the 35,000 students (in the area).”

Julius shares the strategy is to do it one at a time – every student, every college in every campus.

Dennis Ogrimen of Rizal Technical University, Manila, Philippines
Dennis Ogrimen, Rizal Technical
University

Dennis Ogrimen is graduating this year with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering from Rizal Technological University (RTU) in Manila, Philippines.  His plans include being a “cool college professor” at his alma mater while being a campus minister.

Before college and hearing the Gospel, Dennis says he didn’t have a stand on anything in his life.  But his ambivalence changed when God became his Lord. “I started to have Him as my firm foundation.  I started to have a stand in life for purity and holiness through His grace and mercy.”

Dennis says that ENCM has inspired him to evangelize and disciple people in his generation.  Already leading a group of 6 leaders and a small group of 10, Dennis wants to reach the high school students of his school.  “I want to train more leaders on my campus.  ENCM has helped me realize that every member is a leader.”

Glenn Luna of the University of the Philippines
Glenn Luna, University of the
Philippines

Glenn Luna was raised in a Christian home but he admits that he only knew God the same way he knew Michael Jordan - not on a personal level.  Already a member of a small group from his freshman year in high school, Glenn says he never opened up his life to anyone.  Seen by people as a “good boy”, Glenn admits he was actually just secretive, insecure and timid.

It was during Glenn’s second year at the University of the Philippines (UP) during a small group meeting that the truth that God has something better for him struck.  “I realized that I can rise up not because of who I am but because of who He is.  I then made the decision to accept Christ as my Lord and Savior.”

Glenn says ENCM has taught him about leadership, service and how to relate with different kinds of people.  After graduating, he plans to work in a consulting firm for either land-use or urban planning before eventually becoming a full-time campus minister.  He one day hopes to see ENCM as “a model for other organizations in leadership, involvement, faith and excellence.”
