Underprivileged Students Dream Big in the Philippines - p.3
"Doc" Joey Castro, Real LIFE Founder In 2003, "Doc" Joey Castro started Life Scholarships - an educational assistance program that provides high school and university scholarships to bright but poor young men and women with good academic standing who, if not for the scholarships, would have had no chance of finishing high school or getting a university degree.
As the number of scholars continued to grow and the need for funding and programs increased, the Real Life Foundation was established. Thus, although the foundation was formally incorporated only in March 2007, the donation has given financial assistance to more than 150 scholars over the past four years. Real Life's assitance extends to more than just tuition and fees - the scholarship program also provides for school materials, uniforms, transportation and meal allowances, and mentoring in leadership, integrity, faith and excellence. In other words, Real Life gives scholars every possible advantage to ensure their future success.
